Block Resistance Crunches

Have you ever tried so hard at something but you feel like no one notices? But in the end it pays off because ya know #whatdoesntkillyoumakesyoustronger?

This core exercise is just like that! It looks like I’m barely moving, but if you’re doing it right your abdominal muscles will be on fire!

Here’s how to do this move:

Lay flat on your back, then lift your legs up so your shins are parallel to the ground and your knees are over your hips. Place a yoga block (or something else that is firm to provide resistance) between your right knee and right elbow. Curl your head, neck, and shoulders up off the ground.

Now contract your core to lift up and push your elbow against the block, resisting the movement with your knee. It’s almost like you’re doing a crunch, but the something is BLOCK-ing (hehe) you. This will really challenge your upper and lower core.

Next, switch the block to the opposite knee, but keep the same elbow so you are twisting. Continue the movement, but now it will work your obliques as well. And ... repeat all the fun on the other side!!

I always do things in multiples of 8 because it goes with the music generally, so try to do sets of 8 or 16 on each side.
